Why We Started

Every event planner in Toronto has a war story. A server who ghosted the morning of a 200-person gala. A chef who arrived without their knives and improvised badly. A bartender who disappeared at 9 PM when the open bar was still running. A caterer who confirmed 8 servers and sent 5.

These aren't edge cases. They're what happens when staffing is treated as a marketplace problem — list people, match them to jobs, and let the event planner absorb the risk. We decided to absorb the risk ourselves instead.

TorontoEats was built on a simple premise: if we employ the staff, manage their performance, brief them on every event, and coordinate the day ourselves, then we own the outcome. That's a different category of service than a gig app.

How We Operate

We are the employer of record for every shift we staff. Our team sources, vets, and tiered-ranks staff based on real event performance — not self-reported profiles. When we assign your crew, we've worked with them before.

Before every event: we send briefings covering timeline, dress code, service style, and client expectations. Day-of: we're in contact with staff from arrival through end of service. If someone doesn't make it, we find a replacement. You find out when the replacement has been confirmed, not when the gap opens.

Our Staff Network

We operate across Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, North York, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Brampton, Oakville, and Richmond Hill. Our core crew — the people we deploy on premium and recurring bookings — is available within 24 hours. For large-scale or last-minute events, we draw from a vetted overflow pool that meets the same standards.

What We're Not

• Not a gig platform. We don't crowd-source names and hand them to you. We manage the people we send.
• Not a lead generator. We don't connect you with other caterers or staffing companies and take a cut. We fulfill the work ourselves.
• Not trying to do everything. We specialize in food service and catering staff — chefs, servers, bartenders. We do this one thing at a high standard, not ten things at a mediocre one.
